ALIBRIS

Alibris (pronounced “uh-LEE-briss”) is the premier online marketplace for independent sellers of new and used books, music, and movies, as well as rare and collectible titles. We connect people who love books, music, and movies to more than 100 million items from thousands of sellers worldwide.

Since launching in November 1998, we’ve grown to become the Internet’s largest independently owned and operated marketplace. That’s more than ten years of doing the following:
  •     Supporting thousands of independent sellers
  •     Providing you with our sellers' great prices and unbeatable selection
  •     Giving you the peace of mind of our proven track record of satisfying customers just like you

Join us in our second decade. We promise you’ll always be able to find plenty of good books, music, and movies. We look forward to many more years together.

Alibris is a retail marketplace that connects people who love books, music, movies, and other items to more than 100 million items from thousands of independent sellers worldwide. We're in the Monsoon Commerce family
Our parent company, Monsoon Commerce, helps marketplace sellers and online merchants to succeed with technology and service solutions. Learn about Monsoon Commerce

You might not guess that we’re a company with fewer than 100 employees. Yet we’re the largest independently owned and operated book, music, and movie marketplace online.

Walk through our front door in Emeryville, California, and you’ll see that we’re small enough to care and big enough to make an impact. “Alibris Cares” means we help others and planet Earth.

People like you. We work hard, but we also bring our dogs to work. We support bike-to-work programs, and our CEO drives one of the many hybrid cars you’ll see parked out front. In short, we’re like you.

Committed like you. Since 1998, we’ve worked with our hearts and our heads, delivering value to you while demonstrating our values to our local neighbors and the world community. Call it a hunch, but we bet you probably share our commitment to the planet and its people.

Alibris Cares about education, environtment and Community
With our love of books, education is a top priority for our company.

We were honored to partner with Year Up in 2009 by working with Ruben Molet, a Year Up apprentice. Ruben apprenticed with Alibris and immediately impressed us with his eagerness and intelligence. He has since graduated from Year Up, earning much praise, a special award for excellence, and an educational scholarship. We were so happy to have Ruben on board as an intern that we hired him when he graduated from the program! He's now helping to keep our desktop computers humming.

Every time someone buys a used book, CD, or DVD from the Alibris marketplace and keeps it from ending up in a landfill, that’s a benefit to the environment.

And we do much more—from using energy-efficient light bulbs in our corporate offices to supporting the bike-to-work movement by making it easy for our employees to get to work on two wheels instead of four.

Our Red & Green Team is a volunteer employee committee that regularly meets to discuss “matters of the heart and the earth.” These meetings result in tangible recommendations that benefit our communities and our planet.

We use compostable products at our company events and even compost our coffee grounds.
